Our classes are inspired by Spiritual Teacher, Sri Chinmoy.
“Why do we meditate? We meditate because this world of ours has not been able to fulfil us. The so-called peace that we feel in our day-to-day life is five minutes of peace after ten hours of anxiety, worry and frustration. It is only through meditation that we can get lasting peace.”
About our Meditation classes
What is meditation?
In meditation, we try to make the mind calm and quiet. By, making the mind quiet, we can become aware of our inner stillness, and our inner peace. Meditation is our conscious journey of self-discovery.
How to meditate
In the classes, you will learn different meditation techniques, these include concentration, breathing, mantra and the use of music for meditation. The aim is to be aware of the present moment, away from our restless thoughts, and to create a space where our inner joy can come to the fore.
Who are we?
The Sri Chinmoy Centre has been established in Ottawa since the early 1970s. We are a group of diverse people brought together through a shared interest in meditation and the spiritual path of Sri Chinmoy.
